Clams Casino to create a track live on YouTube with Vic Mensa

by Chris Taylor, 18 November 2013

Clams Casino has been having a pretty good time of it recently. Having becoming one of the go-to producers for hip-hop artists, providing a number of beats for the likes of A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, and The Weeknd, even lending a hand on Blood Orange's new album and releasing his own fantastic instrumental mixtapes, he's really made a name for himself in the last few years. And now he's about to go one step further to prove he's really got it.

In collaboration with HP, to promote the HP SplitX2, Clams Casino, alongside Vic Mensa, is set to try and create a song live on YouTube, using comments on the video as inspiration. The project begins tonight and rolls into tomorrow, with the end product released as a two minute song at the end. Clams Casino is hoping that it can be both an audio and visual experience, with him and Mensa hoping to find ways to transform even the smallest comment into a part of the song. We might actually be able to hear what the desperate cries of "FIRST!!!!" actually sound like when not coming from the keyboard tapping of an 'internet warrior'.

The event takes place on November 18th and 19th.

Music-wise Star Slinger is your man. Label-wise, Bella Union rarely get it wrong and in terms of videos, Jamie Harley is a genius. This leads us nicely to the video for 'Gorilla' by Clams Casino, which Mr Harley put together. Great track, great video. What more could you ask for? [read more]
