Plastic Platform: C16 Bam Spacey
Magnus Johansson, aka Bam Spacey, has been floating in his typical ethereal manner on our musical radar for quite awhile now - and so it is with a great pleasure that we bring you this latest Plastic Platform mix by the man himself.
Now signed to Ceremony Recordings, the Swede has this year released the marvelous Land EP that you should purchase from Ceremony, but that's enough waffle by us; here's Bam with a beautiful intro of what to expect:
"This mixtape is a trip through all those memories you have of when you were young, your movement through endless, bright nights, and the hopefulness you felt in the comfort of the dark. All those promises you were given by the city, by its lights and its pulsating spaces. It's an homage to all your faded memories of the fields, the streets, the apartments, the bars and the clubs.
An homage to all the people you ever met while wandering around, hoping for someone to take you away. There are tracks here that sound and feel like you're looking at a starry sky from the middle of the road, tracks that taste like sweat in a dimly-lit, run-down basement, tracks that spell the name of that lost love, that special hand in yours so long ago, and tracks that smell like the rain, hitting the city structures in the light of a lamp-post. Those are the nights you'll never forget.
As for the music, a lot of my personal favorites are in there, along with tracks that are there to represent something, a memory, an era, a love or a loss."

One of our esteemed writers summed up a track, 'Dig', by Fortune Howl rather astutely, and how he "successfully managed to soundtrack the noise in my head as I stumbled home half-drunk at 3am this morning; releasing the outcome as the impeccably weird yet incredibly enticing ‘Dig’". [read more]
This is a curation of music that I've been listening to lately, ranging from playful pop remixes to heavier trap beats. Many of these tracks are produced by people I'm honoured to call my friends who have greatly inspired me in my own work. I hope you will enjoy listening to this mix as much as I did making it!
