Plastic Platform C44: Birthday Edition - oOoOO
The 405 is five years old, and like every spoilt five year old we have been demanding gifts from the people that we like.
So we asked San Francisco-based Chris Dexter to do two things for us, and he has accepted both requests. We are delighted to unveil oOoOO (the real name) as our secret headliner for our special birthday show at The Old Blue Last tomorrow (Saturday 27th April - details here) who joins the likes of East India Youth and Butterclock on the bill.
The second request was for the purveyor of mercurial electronic-beats to create a mix for the occasion, and in typically genre-defying style that's what he's gone and done - the 33 minutes has got its body in party-mode but introspective mind wandering the menacing dimly-lit streets. oOoOO recently announced his new single 'Stay Here' featuring. M.L., that is taken from upcoming 'proper' debut LP Without Your Love, after a smattering of beguiling EP's on Tri Angle Records. The LP is out June 24th on his own new label, Nihjgt Feelings.
Download the pretty darn hot mix below - and see our Facebook event for more details on our birthday show. We advise you to get there early!

Phaseone and Afta-1 are some of my favorite producers that really moved me back in 2009, and artists like Clams Casino, Shlohmo, Tokimonsta, and Mux Mool are also some older favorites that have seen success lately and are steadily growing their fan-bases today. "I wanted to make a mix that featured a lot of the new music I've been listening to lately, focusing on producers who's music is newer to me (with a couple old favorites in there). I also featured a couple of my favorite remixes that came from a remix competition that the Canadian Festival, Bass Coast, did for some songs off of my last LP. [read more]
