Stream Owl John's new song 'Stupid Boy' [405 Premiere]
While the moniker Owl John may not ring a bell, it almost certainly will when I say he's the man better known as Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit fame. On 4 August he'll be releasing his self-titled debut album via Atlantic Records, and today we have the premiere of a new song 'Stupid Boy' for you to listen to below.
The album was produced by his friend Andy Monaghan (also of Frightened Rabbit) and Simon Liddell of Olympic Swimmers between the Isle of Mull in Scotland and the West Coast of America. He wanted to craft the album as inspiration before the next Frightened Album record, and with the rest of the band on a break following their relentless touring schedule behind Pedestrian Verse, it was the perfect time to do so.
'Stupid Boy' is brilliantly honest, raw, and heartbreaking - much like 'Hate Music', which can be heard here. The songs were built on a schedule of music by day, whisky by night, and within two weeks the record was finished. If you pre-order Owl John the track will download instantly, and you can do so over at his website!
