Albums Released Today: 11th November 2013

by Oliver Primus (Google+), 11 November 2013

The Christmas adverts have arrived ladies and gentlemen, and guess what that means? Father Christmas is two months away from getting his fat ass out of bed, end of year lists are around the corner and label executives are putting a hold on releasing anything huge until the new year.

Still, with the likes of Wooden Shjips and Andrew Bird releasing records, there's no need to be a festive grinch about it.

Below you'll find a list of key albums released today, along with links to our reviews (the ones in blue). Due to our review policy (up to two weeks before release, and in some cases the week following the release), a lot of the albums won't have reviews attached to them, but hopefully this will act as a handy shopping list to take to your local record store.

It's a busy seven days for album releases this week (16th September), so listen up. There's the unveiling of Elvis Costello's long-awaited collaboration with The Roots, which promises to be glorious, also flanked by new LP's from MGMT, hopeful of avoiding another critical mauling, and The Naked And Famous return to these shores with In Rolling Waves. Not only that, but a little band by the name of Nirvana are on the reissue trail. Not bad, hey? [read more]

A pretty low-key week again I'm afraid folks, which is to be expected with the dreaded 'c word' on the horizon. No, not that 'c word', but the 'stuff-your-face-full-of-turkey' 'c word'. Despite the impending apocalypse, the likes of Active Child, CFCF, Ryan Hemsworth (check that lovely shot out above by our photographer Jake Churchill) and Omar Souleyman are all releasing new albums today, which is totally cool with us. An early Chris... I'll stop there. [read more]
