Andrew W.K. joins Marky Ramone's Band

by The 405 News Team, 03 April 2013

Andrew W.K. of 'party hard' fame has announced he'll be joining Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg on a world tour, assuming the role of the late Ramones frontman.

"I first met Andrew through a mutual friend and he told me about his party philosophy, which has also always been my exact take on life," says Marky. "We went into the rehearsal studio and it just clicked."

"When Marky Ramone asks you to be his singer, you don't even think about it," says W.K. "It's an automatic, YES. I was intimidated by the magnitude of the opportunity – freaked out and overwhelmed – but I was also completely determined and focused – it's something I had to do. Even just the first rehearsal felt like an odyssey, but that's how you can tell the experience is changing your life. I've never had a more rewarding, humbling, or challenging invitation than this, and I'm serving the gods via this incredible sound Marky and his band created. There's never been better rock 'n' roll music made than this, and I will give everything I have to do it justice."

The announcement was made via this Fuse interview:

Cultural ambassador to the Middle East (even if it did fall through), spokesman for Playtex, creators of unisex sanitary products for use before and after sex, and now potential record breaker; Andrew W.K. really is just partying hard and not giving a damn. Here's a guy who just throws himself into absolutely anything and everything, and just has a blast; an ethos we should perhaps all share. [read more]

    405TV Session: Andrew W.K.

    by 405 TV

Welcome to the bizarre world of Andrew W.K. When we confirmed our session/interview with Andrew W.K. we knew to expect the unexpected, but not even we could've predicted what happened that afternoon. Originally W.K. was to perform on a keyboard, but no keyboard was to be found, so we set out to find one. That didn't happen (well it did, but we'll save that story for another day). The interview was cut short so we decided to head straight for a session, minus one camera person. [read more]
