Best Coast - 'Fear Of My Own Identity' [Listen]
In honour of this year's Record Store Day celebrated on Saturday, all American surf rock band Best Coast released a 7", 'Fear of my Own Identity'. This record has been described as epitomising 'stoner existential paranoia' which pretty much sums it up with lyrics such as "I hope it's you but I know it's me" fading us out into their B side 'Who have I Cecome'. 'Fear of my own Identity', despite the edgy, drug fuelled undertones, manages to be upbeat and poppy at the same time. The hazy tones and catchy melody make it equal parts beach pop and stoner rock.
Fade Away will be released on October 21st through Best Coast frontwoman Bethany Cosentino's Jewel City label, and is a prelude to their third studio album whose recordings should begin in November [read more]
