Best Coast - 'Fear Of My Own Identity' [Listen]

by Laura Kay, 22 April 2013

In honour of this year's Record Store Day celebrated on Saturday, all American surf rock band Best Coast released a 7", 'Fear of my Own Identity'. This record has been described as epitomising 'stoner existential paranoia' which pretty much sums it up with lyrics such as "I hope it's you but I know it's me" fading us out into their B side 'Who have I Cecome'. 'Fear of my own Identity', despite the edgy, drug fuelled undertones, manages to be upbeat and poppy at the same time. The hazy tones and catchy melody make it equal parts beach pop and stoner rock.
