Earl Sweatshirt announces future plans

by Christian K. Breedlove (Google+), 03 May 2012

In an article published by the New York Times, Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt has announced his upcoming plans now that he has arrived back in California after his time in Samoa at a retreat for at-risk youth.

In the feature, Sweatshirt announced intentions to create a collaborative record with Tyler, The Creator under the moniker "EarlWolf", a record with Matt Martians of The Internet and a follow up to his 2010 album Earl. Perhaps most intriguing however, is the news that he has created his own imprint, to be distributed by Columbia (which is owned by Sony, the label that also distributes Odd Future Records), called Tan Cressida. "I want it to look seamless" he told the New York Times.

Also, in contrast with the lyrics on his debut album, he has declared some changes when it comes to the subject matter at hand. According to the New York Times, Sweatshirt spent time doing community service at a center for victims of sexual abuse in Samoa and that was a "pivotal" moment in his lyrical content. "There's no defense for it like -- You have any sense of humanity." a choked up Sweatshirt said.
