Phoenix unveil new single, 'Entertainment' [Listen]

by The 405 News Team, 18 February 2013

Phoenix have unveiled the first single from their forthcoming new album, Bankrupt!, which is the band's fifth album, and the follow-up to 2009's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (released on April 22nd).

Two things we like about the track:

  • 1. The lyric: "I'd rather be alone"
  • 2. The kung-fu quality running throughout it. Wow.

Verdict: It's good to have you back, guys.

Check out 'Entertainment' below, which premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show this evening, along with the album tracklisting.

  • Entertainment
  • The Real Thing
  • S.O.S In Bel Air
  • Trying To Be Cool
  • Bankrupt!
  • Drakkar Noir
  • Chloroform
  • Don’t
  • Bourgeois
  • Oblique City

This subtly enhanced Dirty Projectors remix of Phoenix's 'Entertainment' aired recently and follows on from the Grizzly Bear remix of the same track. Substituting some of the guitar-driven rawness of the original track for stop-start percussion and looping vocals, Dirty Projectors have managed to successfully attach their own spin here - making for a complimentary and downright excellent remix.
