Pixies fire bassist Kim Shattuck

Shattuck took the position following the departure of Kim Deal earlier in the year, but obviously things didn't work out. Are there any other bass players out there called Kim? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, as the band have a pretty huge tour of North America planned for next year.
Billed as the first leg of their World Tour, Pixies have announced they'll be heading to the UK/EU later this year for an extensive tour, which takes in the likes of the Apollo in Manchester and London. [read more]
The Pixies are set to finally release their 2004 compilation Wave of Mutilation on vinyl next January 17th. The compilation brings together the bandâs singles, two stand-out B-sides (âInto the Whiteâ and âWinterlongâ), as well as many key album tracks. Packaged in a gatefold sleeve and manufactured as a double disc set, the first European pressing of Wave of Mutilation will be released on orange coloured vinyl, while the US version will be available in black. ...
