The duo of Aluna Francis and George Reid sold out this date at XOYO way before Christmas of last year, and the RnB-come-garage types put on quite the show in a packed and sultry setting as the brickwork basement cried kinetic sweat.

'Your Drums, Your Love' inevitably brought down the place at the end, with firm favourites 'You Know You Like It' and 'Just A Touch' also doing their stuff to the baying crowd warmed-up by a stonking garage-set prior to them taking stage that made all present feel 14 again - and as an added bonus we got a cover of Frank Ocean's 'Thinking Bout You'. Their debut album Diver is out in June via Island.

I have a bit of a theory concerning pop music within our shores right now. How many of you find yourselves out at clubs; or at friend's parties, unable to resist the urge to get up and dance your heart out to Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe'? Come on, there's no need to be ashamed about it. We're all doing it; tinnie in hand, prancing about on sofa's across the country as we sing that incessant chorus that's been stuck in our heads almost every other day. [read more]

    AlunaGeorge - Body Music

It's a bold move to state the intentions of an album from the very outset; no intro, no skit, no thirty second lead-in. Precedents are set, expectations are raised. In AlunaGeorge's case, the honeyed vocals over sparse production on 'Outlines', the opening track of Body Music, are a strikingly accurate marker of the rest of the album's content. [read more]
