The 405 embarked on a whirlwind trip to the exhilarating port city of Hamburg for an overnight stay, armed with just a disposable camera and beat-up comfortable trainers for all the walking and dancing on the agenda.

Our primary reason for the trip was to experience a Boiler Room-curated set at Generator Hostels; this particular Boiler Room was the third hosted by the hostel company across their many locations in Europe, following on from events in Copenhagen and Berlin. Session Victim, Arnaldo, RVDS, and Sofia Kourtesis did their thing over the course of four hours in front of a crowd of impossibly tall and irrevocably cool Germans sipping cocktails, the intimate setting a kinetic mess of shapes and hypnotic crowd entranced in a techno daze. It was all the more enjoyable with the comfort that the journey home was a mere 2 flights up a stairwell to a comfy bed within the hostel.

We had some time to explore the city itself - a city full of culture/art galleries, lake-based walks, hidden bars and clubs, with the whole vibe possessing a young 'counter-culture' feel. Particularly the St. Pauli area. The kind of city that leaves you wanting to experience more of it after you've left.

Generator Barcelona hosts the next event on October 6th (details here).
