The Dreamers Ever Leave You, a recent collaboration by the Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada created by Robert Binet and inspired by the paintings of artist Lawren Harris, was performed at Printworks as an immersive looped performance, letting the audience roam around the stages.

The advantage of having an open space as a stage is that each member of the audience will have a unique experience of their own.

The opportunity to move around and see every angle of every step almost lets you feel how the dancer’s bodies move within the space around you, instead of being restricted to a single viewpoint from a reserved seat in a theatre. By being so close to the dancers, you can see and hear what usually is hidden behind grand costumes and a full orchestra, to create an experience that not many have encountered but that can enlighten you to see another side of ballet.
