You can't phone in enthusiasm for the greatest sitcom of all time, you either get it or you don't. Nate Brenner, aka Naytronix, aka the bassist from tUnE-yArDs, is someone that gets it.

His forthcoming album, Mister Divine (due October 16th via City Slang), probably wasn't inspired by the show, but that didn't stop us from taking up his some of his valuable album cycle promo time by badgering him about his favourite Seinfeld scene of all time. You'd be a jerk not to give it a read.

The Comeback: Season 8, Episode 13

"Sometime in life the gods smile upon you my friends," George says as he enters Jerry's apartment. "Did you get someone to take that Canadian quarter?" Jerry replies.

Nope. George is excited because he thought of a good comeback to the insult that Reilly laid on him at their last meeting. Reilly said, "Hey George, the ocean called; they're running out of shrimp." In that meeting George was left speechless and embarrassed, but finally he thought of the perfect comeback. "The Jerk store called and they're running out of you," he says.

None of the gang is impressed. They offer some good lines of their own but George throws a little temper tantrum and leaves. "This is why I hate writing with a large group. Everybody has their own little opinions, and it all gets homogenised, and you lose the whole edge of it. I'm going with jerk store! Jerk store is the line! Jerk store!"

So how did his great comeback turn out?

Once more Reilly says to George "The ocean called. They're running outta shrimp." George is ready for his big moment and replies "Oh yeah, Reilly? Well, the jerk store called. They're running outta you!" Immediately Reilly fires back "What's the difference? You're their all-time best seller!"

Everyone in the office is laughing harder than before, George looks around angry, frustrated and almost about to start crying then Kramer's line pops into his head and out of his mouth, "Yeah? Well, I had sex with your wife."

Suddenly the room is silent and McAdams says to George "His wife is in a coma."

End Scene.
