While most of his work finds food as the central role, the series No Seconds by Brooklyn-based photographer Henry Hargreaves is somewhat peculiar -- to say the least -- in its concept: for it, Hargreaves recreated some of the last meals requested by prisoners condemned to the death penalty.

"Anywhere else in the developed world, the death penalty is just not even in the conversation," Hasgreaves said while explaining the idea first occurred to him when he read about Texas' plans to end the elaborate last meal tradition. "I thought it could be a really interesting idea to try to represent visually."

Although the ingredients appearing on each dish are based on Wikipedia sources, Hasgreaves had no idea how the actual dish was presented, so he just let his imagination run free. You can check out part of the series below, including the very last meal of famous outlaws Sacco & Vanzetti.
