In what may be some of the most surprising news of the day, it was announced yesterday that U.S. President Barack Obama would be appearing on Marc Maron's celebrated WTF with Marc Maron podcast.

The cat-happy manic comedian has earned a bevy of big names to join him in his garage (where he tapes the podcast), but most are entertainment industry figures. Now, upcoming guests will have a huge task to follow up Obama, easily Maron's biggest guest to date. The recording will take place during Obama's charity tour of Los Angeles, which will be a special hour-long commercial free episode.

Unfortunately for those who are pining for Maron's grilling style of interviews, it isn't expected that the hour-long discussion will contain an incredibly dense discussion of Obama's decisions or the government, considering he's still in office and its more of a promotional event. That being said, Maron's career prior to coming into comedy and the podcast world was in political radio, so its not unfamiliar territory for the neurotic figure.

This is hardly Obama's first venture into the pop culture world, as he has made previous stops along the stages of The Tonight Show and a very popular meeting with Zach Galifianakis on Between Two Ferns. Still, those appearances were much more brief than the upcoming interview.

The episode will be ready for airing June 22nd. In the meantime, get familiar with President Obama's Buzzfeed-produced "Selfie Stick" video below from last February.
