How would you describe yourself in five words?

The Queen of Anti-social.

What's the most challenging piece you've ever created?

It would be almost everything I shoot! My brain overthinks and when I arrive/prepare to shoot, I always try to give myself that challenge. Doing a different angle, working with props, working with different personalities, etc. So every piece is challenging because I try to make it that way. It's great practice.

When was the last time you tried something new?

It wasn't with photography but last Sunday, it was with food. I'm not afraid of trying new things (most of the time) especially with food. I'm from the Philippines so I grew up eating unique dishes. Food from other cultures don't scare me.

What's the most provocative piece you've ever created?

Sometimes when I don't have any models or take a break from street/landscape/random photography, I try to work on self portraits. I had one where I sat on a chair, set up the self timer as well as long exposure, and shook my head. I have anxiety and also love for the dark that the photo exuded both examples.

If a movie was made about your life, what actor/actress would play you and what would the film be called?

I'd want Shannyn Sossamon, even though we so don't even look alike; but I love her quirkiness and would totally portray my mannerisms well. And the film would be called, The Underdogs.

What are the top two compliments you hear from people about yourself?

Being a rare gem and hilarious... hahaha.

What inspires you?

I'd say other creatives, the environment, and great cinematography.

What is your most valuable skill?

Being able to have that eye that can capture unwanted details to some and being able to involve an emotion/feel in the photo.

What's the best piece you've ever created?

Maybe it's the artist/critic in me but I've yet to create the best piece. I always feel I could do better next time.

Any advice for new artists?

Always be honest with yourself and to others. Practice your passions with heart and never worry about others nor compare yourself to others. These days it's so saturated in being in the public eye and oftentimes we forget that being a mystery is totally ok and also not common. I always choose to take the road less travelled. It's a slower pace but I promise you when you think people aren't watching you or seeing your work - they really are.

What is a movie moment that completely transformed you?

I'm big on horror, martial arts, and also movies with great colours and lighting. I would say watching my first Bruce Lee movie which was Enter the Dragon. When the movie ended, I went to my mom and asked her if she'd heard of Bruce Lee. I was put in ballet but told my mom I wanted to take martial arts. And she did and the rest is history.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your life?

Being able to wake up and live on this beautiful planet!
