As part of our Placeholder series, we're asking some of our favourite artists an incredibly simple question: 'what are you reading?'. A pretty great way to find out what you should be spending your money on if you ask us.

Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman (2004)

"The book I recently started reading is Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman. One summer day two little girls are banished from a pool party for something one of them did. Alice Manning and Ronnie Fuller start on their journey home when they see an unattended baby carriage in an alley. They take the carriage to "save" the child but a few days later the baby is found dead. On their 18th birthdays they are released from juvenile detention. "Their suspicious journey continues, and we find out what actually happened 7 years ago.

"This novel explores childhood - how children think, and what their thoughts and ideas are. This is really interesting for me considering I am a children and adolescent mental health studies minor at NYU. And I'm always a sucker for a good mystery novel. It follows an extremely intriguing journey into the characters world's. If you're looking for a book to keep you on the edge of your seat with unexpected twists and turns, Every Secret Thing is the right read.
