Queen Bey will transform into Saartjie Baartman, a South African woman who was enslaved and forced on display in a Victorian freak show in London, in a new biopic she is writing and set to star in. In 1810, due to her "unfamiliar Khoisan figure," otherwise known as large backside, Saartjie was confined by a Dutch farmer near Cape Town and brought to the Egyptian Hall of Piccadilly Circus for a show that soon earned her the nickname as 'Hottentot Venus.'

Beyoncé, with the reported hopes of elevating her acting career following roles in Dreamgirls and Cadillac Records, is writing the screenplay with the anticipation that Saartjie’s story will welcome her breakthrough role, while bringing an important narrative to the big screen.
