The U.S. Supreme Court has officially declined to hear the case of Wisconsin teen Brendan Dassey.

Dassey was charged with murder, and his case was chronicled – along with that of his uncle Steven Avery – in the first season of Netflix’s Making a Murderer. Dassey was sentenced to life for participating with Avery in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach of Manitowoc, WI. The Court has now refused to hear his appeal after Dassey's legal counsel argued that his client’s confession should not be allowed in evidence as there were questions about its veracity.

It is customary for the Court to not offer a rationale for denying an appeal. One of Dassey’s lawyers, Laura Nirider, said "we will continue to fight…" It is not clear where the case goes from here.
