At his CES keynote today, it was announced by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings that the streaming service will be going live in 130 new countries including Russia, India, and South Korea, in an expansion that's tripled the company's distribution.

"Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global internet TV network," said Hastings. "With this launch, consumers around the world — from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo — will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously — no more waiting. With the help of the internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever, and on whatever device."

Also released today, is the first trailer for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Netflix show The Get Down, about the rise of hip-hop, punk, and disco in 1970s New York, which will star Dope break-out actor Shameik Moore. Although the series has no official release date, beyond "this year," it is most definitely confirmed that a lot more people will be able to see it.
