Carl Lumbly will be Dick Hallorann and Alex Essoe will be Wendy Torrance in the much anticipated sequel to The Shining, titled Doctor Sleep. Ewan McGregor will play an adult Danny Torrance and Rebecca Ferguson will be Rose the Hat. Halloran was played by the late Scatman Crothers, Wendy by Shelley Duvall, and Danny Torrance by Danny Lloyd in Kubrick's 1980 horror opus.

Westworld's Zahn McClarnon is also in talks for Doctor Sleep – sources telling Variety that he would be the right hand man of Ferguson's character.

Mike Flanagan – director of another King adaptation Gerald's Game – will be helming Doctor Sleep. In it, Danny is struggling with the demons wrought by his time at the Overlook, and using alcohol to calm them and quiet his clairvoyant abilities.

Sobriety, however, brings them back, but Danny chooses to channel them to help the residents of a hospice, when he meets a little girl who also has the power to shine. What happens to the two will be the heart of the film.
