Buzz on Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, the third remake of 1937’s A Star is Born (after 1954's with Judy Garland and 1976's with Barbara Streisand, this new take also stars Lady Gaga), is building rapidly, with Cooper’s next project, a biopic of legendary conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein now in the works. Paramount Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are financing Cooper's Bernstein with Josh Singer penning it. Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are among Bernstein’s producers.

Bernstein comes at basically the same time as the Jake Gyllenhaal-fronted The American which also tackles the life of the conductor and composer. Cary Joji Fukunaga directs Gyllenhaal's effort.

It is unknown right now how the two films will differ in terms of time-line and narrative. This has led to the two pictures dueling to be first to be brought to audiences. Stay tuned to The 405 for more on both films as we hear it.
