Yesterday, Disney fulfilled the wish of a terminally ill Star Wars fan named Daniel Fleetwood with a private screening of The Force Awakens ahead of its release in December. The 32-year-old was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in 2012 - it has since spread, and as of 2nd September this year he was given just two months to live.

Fellow Star Wars fans launched a Twitter campaign after they learned of Daniel's story, with actors from the franchise Mark Hamill, John Boyega, and Carrie Fisher lending their voices to the #ForceforDaniel campaign.

Daniel's wife, Ashley, yesterday confirmed that his wish had come true via Facebook: Disney granted him an unedited private screening of the upcoming latest addition to the Star Wars series; in addition, he also received a phonecall from its director, J.J. Abrams. Mark Hamill tweeted about the news, too.

To all our wonderful supporters, friends, family and awesome strangers: Daniels final dream was just granted!!! Today...
