After the terrorist attacks on September 11 2001, celebrity friends Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando got in a car and tried to drive back to California, according to a Vanity Fair story at the time. MJ had invited the duo to his Madison Square Garden concert, but when planes were cancelled after 9/11, the three legends hired a car and tried to drive home, getting as far as Ohio. The alleged road trip has become a pop culture myth, as Elizabeth Taylor's assistant has denied the claims. And now, the story is being turned into a movie.

Shakespeare in Love actor Joseph Fiennes has signed up to play Jackson, while Stockard Channing will play Taylor and Brian Cox has been cast as Brando.

The script comes from Neil Forsyth and it's one that Fiennes has described as a challenge. "It's a fun, lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek road trip of what celebrity of that kind is like. But also it's rather beautiful and poignant about their relationships."
