Nas is no stranger to the film world. His role in '90s flick Belly (which starred DMX) is one of the most revered in the hip-hop community. Now, it's his talents behind the camera that are on show. He's signed up as the executive producer of indie drama The Land, which stars Erykah Badu and fellow rapper Machine Gun Kelly. But he hasn't forgotten his roots - he'll also head up the film's soundtrack.

Written and directed by Steve Caple Jr., The Land follows four teenage boys as they attempt to escape from the streets of Cleveland through careers in professional skateboarding. The group's brotherhood is put to the test when they get caught in the web of a local drug queen-pin. Speaking about the film, Nas saidL "[I'm a] huge fan of my man Steve Caple Jr. I think he can become the next great filmmaker. [I'm] also, very excited to be working with my former agent and friend Charles King on his first film with his new venture. All great energy around the film, which I believe will yield amazing results."

The Land will premiere in January 2016 at the Sundance Film Festival as part of the Next section.
