If you don't know about, or have never watched any of, Charlie Brooker's disturbing satirical series Black Mirror, well, you should check it out. One third thriller, one third horror, one third satire, as per the title of the series it basically holds up mirror to our tehcnology-obsessed society, reflecting back its darker, more dystopian parts. That's not the exact, intended meaning, however – Brooker himself describes it thusly:

"The 'black mirror' of the title is the one you'll find on every wall, on every desk, in the palm of every hand: the cold, shiny screen of a TV, a monitor, a smartphone."

Black Mirror appeared on Netflix this summer, much to the delight of many who'd never even heard of the show – it originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK at the end of 2011. Now it turns out Netflix will be producing a new season, the third; there is no word yet on when it will be premiered.
