Turkish born composer Pinar Toprak has become the first female composer to score a major comic book movie after signing on for the March 2019 Captain Marvel, marking a first for the genre and female composers everywhere.

Toprak's previous credits include SyFy's show Krypton, and some additional music for Justice League in addition to various other films, video games and shows. She spent time programming at Hans Zimmer's studio and holds degrees from Berklee College of Music in Boston and Cal State Northridge.

Captain Marvel tells the story of a female superhero played by Brie Larson. It is slated for a March 2019 release.
