Yann Demange (director of ’71 and Top Boy) will be making his US TV debut in directing the first episode of HBO’s Lovecraft Country from newly minted Oscar winner Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams.

Lovecraft Country is based on the 2016 novel from Matt Ruff with the screen treatment by Misha Green. It follows Atticus Black with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George as they journey across Jim Crow America in the 1950's to find Black's missing father. In the process, they must survive the racist terrors around them and also fight terrifying monsters seemingly ripped from the mind of Lovecraft – adding a weird fiction twist to what already looks to be another incredible piece of polemical horror from Jordan Peele, and one of the number of projects his Monkeypaw Productions has in its pipeline, including a take on The Twilight Zone and a tale of 1970's nazi hunters among others.

Not much else is known about Lovecraft Country right now. Stay tuned to The 405 for more as we hear it.
