There is a new film in the works from Lionsgate, director Kevin Connolly, and writers Leo Rossi and Lem Dobbs on the life of the “Teflon Don” and boss of the Gambino crime family, John Gotti – the film having been in development for roughly 6 years.

John Travolta will take the lead as Gotti in a film that is mainly recounted by his son John Jr. (Spencer Lofranco), as about 30 years in the life of the Teflon Don are examined with Gotti and his wife Victoria (Kelly Preston) attempting to keep the family cohesive against so many prison sentences and what seems to be an insurmountable train of tragedy.

Connolly to EW: “There are nice cars and fancy suits in the movie, but we're also showing where all that eventually leads… HBO made a Gotti movie in 1996, but his death, which was horrible, hasn't been covered too much. That's a different angle that we're going to explore.”
