Greta Gerwig has had quite a bit of experience both behind and in front of the camera, but her newest film, her directorial debut, Lady Bird (2017) takes things in a slightly different direction.

The film stars two-time Academy Award nominee Saorise Ronan, as the eponymous Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson, a rebellious, strong-headed student at a conservative catholic high school in Sacramento, CA, but with dreams of going to college in New York City. This story arc is reportedly somewhat auto-biographical of Gerwig.

Lady Bird follows Gerwig's successes in acting and screenwriting with Noah Baumbach on Mistress America (2015) and Frances Ha (2012) and her co-direction effort with Joe Swanberg on Nights and Weekends (2008). The film earned acclaim at Telluride and is headed next to the Toronto Film Festival. The film also features Lucas Hedges, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Timothée Chalamet, and Beanie Feldstein.

The 405 will have more on this as we hear about it. For now, enjoy the trailer below.
