Momentum Pictures will release the political thriller The Last Witness on VOD and Digital HD on May 29, 2018.

Based on true events, the film was directed by BAFTA Award nominee Piotr Szkopiak (Small Time Obsession) who co-wrote the film with Paul Szambowski. The film has an all-star cast of Alex Pettyfer (Elvis & Nixon), Robert Więckiewicz (The Mighty Angel), Talulah Riley (Westworld) and Michael Gambon (Harry Potter Franchise).

In The Last Witness, an ambitious young journalist uncovers the horrific slaughter of 22,000 Polish officers during WWII. A secret that has been kept hidden for far too many years.

The film is a fictional re-telling of a bloody and heart-breaking story based on true events, which has a very personal connection for director and co-writer Piotr Szkopiak (catch my interview with Szkopiak coming soon to The 405).

After the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the East in 1939, Piotr's mother, Emilia, was deported to Siberia by the Soviets in 1940 and faced with forced labor, squalid living conditions, starvation and disease. She eventually left the Soviet Union in 1942 and settled in London 1947, however, Emilia's father, Piotr's grandfather, Wojciech Stanislaw Wojcik, was one of the Polish officers executed in the Katyn Massacre during WWII by the Soviet Union.
