Lionsgate has announced the incredible St. Vincent will be directing a feature-length adaptation of Oscar Wilde's only published novel, 1890's "The Picture of Dorian Gray."

St. Vincent's first foray into filmmaking was marked by the entry of her 2017 short segment "The Birthday Cake" which was part of the female driven horror anthology film XX.

The film takes a remarkable departure from Wilde's novel of a hedonistic Victorian aristocrat kept young by the self-portrait which ages in his attic, by making the lead character female, and presumably other plot twists. The script is being written by David Birke who penned Paul Verhoeven's Elle(2016), co-wrote the upcoming take on Slenderman (2018), and is adapting Pierre Lemaitre's crime thriller Alex for the screen.
