R.I.P to the man behind the scenes. Hollywood sound engineer Richard Portman died in his home in Florida over the weekend, according to his daughter Jennifer. He was 82-years-old.

"He was an icon of his craft of motion picture sound re-recording, recognized with the highest honors of his field," his daughter wrote. "He was eccentric, irreverent, and real."

He worked on 200 movies during his incredible career including Star Wars, The Godfather and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. He was nominated for 11 Oscars in total.
