In the ongoing war of whether or not reboots and endless sequels should continue to dominate the world of blockbusters, there's a quiet, unanimous agreement that one franchise is probably exempt from that stance: Godzilla.

Two years after director Gareth Edwards (the man behind the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) reintroduced the legendary giant to world audiences (and effectively erasing the god-awful 1998 version with Matthew Broderick), directing duo Hideki Anno and Shinji Higuchi are set to release the 31st installment to the franchise with Godzilla Resurgence (シン・ゴジラ Shin Gojira). The updated version of the monster is actually a reboot of the franchise entirely from the Japanese perspective. This time, just like with Edwards' version, the stakes are even higher with the monster standing at a daring 389 feet (118.5 meters) tall - the largest ever.

The second teaser for the film, which is set for released on July 29th in Japan with international dates set soon thereafter, shows the sheer size and scope of what an event like this could actually mean. The look of Godzilla itself is a more retro-styled version, away from the aforementioned 2014 and 1998 Hollywood versions. This Godzilla looks gift-wrapped from the 1960s, except more immense and unnatural.
