Shea Serrano's The Rap Year Book, an analysis of the the genre's best songs since 1979, is being made into a documentary series by AMC. The news that a documentary could be in the works first emerged last year, but confirmation that a six-part series was indeed coming our way renews out initial excitement.

"We are really excited to create this thought provoking series with AMC and Jigsaw Productions," says Questlove and Black Thought, who join the project as executive producers. "We are just beginning to enter the film & TV content creation space in a big way, through our production company Passyunk Productions, and to have Rap Yearbook as one of our first projects greenlit to series, and AMC and Jigsaw as our partners, it's an amazing way to launch our production company. This will be a great journey."

The series is set to premiere on AMC in 2018.
