Marvin Gaye's family has approved a documentary about the late legend for the first time. Noah Media Group and Greenlight are currently putting together a new film called Marvin, What’s Going On? about the making of the singer's iconic 1971 album. Gaye's children (Nona, Marvin III, and Frankie Gaye,) and former wife Janis Gaye "have supported and contributed to" the doc, which is scheduled to go into production this year and be released in 2017.

Marvin, What’s Going On? will be "the defining portrait of this visionary artist and his impeccable album," the production team stated. "The relevance of [his] as strong as ever."
