Todd Phillips's (The Hangover trilogy) untitled Joker origin movie (with Scott Silver also writing) has been given the official green light by Warner Bros. with Joaquin Phoenix closing his deal to star. This project will be pushed in addition to Jared Leto's Joker movie.

Now, the studio has set September as the date to start filming, with a moderate $55 million budget, according to Variety.

Sources say the film will have more of the look and atmosphere of a crime drama versus a comic book movie, as it will be exploring the Joker's origins. It takes place in the '80s.
