It really wasn't that long ago when Kevin Spacey became the first star to be replaced in a major motion picture after accusations of sexual misconduct against him hit the public sphere as a part of the #MeToo movement. It wasn't long after that that Christopher Plummer replaced him as J. Paul Getty in Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World.

While in Scott's production much of the film was already shot with Spacey when they decided on the change, The Secret Life of Pets 2 has become the next film to share this distinction with All the Money in the World. Comedian Louis C.K. – who had his own disturbing #MeToo accusations – played the lead role of Max the dog in 2016's The Secret Life of Pets.

While Max is coming back to the franchise with this second installment, C.K. Is not. Comedian Patton Oswalt (recently in the news relative to the Golden State Killer's capture back in March) has instead been cast in the part. Eric Stonestreet and Kevin Hart co-star with Chris Renaud once again directing a script from Brian Lynch.

Catch The Secret Life of Pets 2 in theaters June 9 of next year. Enjoy the C.K.-free trailer below.
