When the first trailer for director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's The Revenant appeared in late July, the immediate expectations of the film were wildly high. Alongside the casting of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, two frequently recurring Oscar-favorite actors who have yet to either win a crown (the latter is yet to be nominated, while DiCaprio has been nominated four separate times for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor), Inarritu tabbed acclaimed cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and production designer Jack Fisk for the naturalistic real-life story.

The first teaser was a dialogue-less high-energy rampage of scene and style. The newest, however, gets a little deeper into the actual story, showing the gruesome bear fight that leaves DiCaprio's character Hugh Glass gravely injured and left for dead by his team, which includes Hardy's character Tom Fitzgerald.

Watch the emphatic, gorgeous trailer for the film below, which arrives in limited release Christmas Day and wide-release January 8th, 2016.
