In 2007, 22-year-old U.S. citizen Amanda Marie Knox became the central figure in what the Italian press coined the "trial of the decade" following the death of her British roommate Meredith Susanna Cara Kercher, an exchange student from the University of Leeds who shared an apartment with Knox in Perugia, Italy. During the time of the trial and the following events, Knox's personal life exploded in the international media, diving deeper and deeper into her past. While she and then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were ultimately acquitted of the killing, Knox remains the provincial figure of the event nearly nine years after it took place.

On September 30th, Netflix will release the highly-anticipated documentary on the event, which features Knox, Sollecito, Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini, and Daily Mail reporter Nick Pisa. The film will make its official premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow, September 9th.
