Remember Jem and the Holograms? '80s cartoon? Neither do I, but I feel like I should remember it, though it was a little before my time. Anyway, millions of other people probably do remember it, which is why a live action movie, scheduled for release in December, makes sense.

A blurb on Google, after a quick search, says the original cartoon was about the "truly, truly, truly outrageous adventures of a music company owner who uses a holographic computer to live a secret life as a rock star." Fun, right? But judging from the trailer, the movie's gonna be quite different from the original series. Cue drama.

Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples will play the eponymous Jem, whilst Juliette Lewis and '80s teen icon Molly Ringwald will also star.

The trailer ("Trailer 1" actually) is below for your ocular pleasure, as well as the original Jem theme – which I've literally never ever heard before.
