The times, they are a changing. It looks like album sales in 2016 are the lowest they've ever been since Soundcan (which became Nielsen Music) began to keep track of sales in 1991. Album sales in the U.S have dropped to 100.3 million, which is a 13.6% drop compared to 2015. But Billboard has estimated that revenue has climbed 8.9% to $1.98 billion so far in 2016, partly due to streaming. Through companies like Spotify and Apple Music, streaming has jumped 58.7% to 208.9 billion songs.
