24 Frames: The 'Antichrist' Edition

Last week saw the release of the trailer for the new David O. Russell movie American Hustle which features an all star cast of Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. I loved the director's last movie Silver Linings Playbook (2012) which also starred Lawrence and Cooper.

David O. Russell first came to my intention with Three Kings back in 1999 and since then I think The Fighter (2010) and the divisive I Heart Huckabees (2004) were both superb films. The director knows how to get superb performances out of his casts, and it is great to see him reuniting with Cooper, Bale, Adams and Lawrence again. Quite simply the casting is superb, as in my opinion they all come from the director's best movies in The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook.

Bale and Lawrence both won awards the last time they worked with O.Russell and Cooper and Adams were rightly lauded too. All of this points toward a fantastic movie that reminds me of Scorsese in parts and perhaps shows these actors all doing something we have not seen before. Excited? I am now!
