The Chanel jacket has become the symbol of a certain elegance, feminine, with an air of nonchalance, classic and timeless, that is of all times” Karl Lagerfeld.

Set for release in Autumn 2012 and having been launched at an exhibition in Tokyo, Chanel’s ‘The Little Black Jacket’ is a project which gathered one hundred celebrities together in one beautiful place. The A-list includes Alice Dellal, Kanye West, Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung, Yoko Ono and Georgia May Jagger and features each of their intimate photographs in a new book by ex-French Vogue Editor Carine Roitfled and the current Chanel master Karl Lagerfeld.

In effortless chic, Roitfeld dressed up as Coco Chanel herself to recreate the timeless portrait of the fashion house's founder. The bulging list of celebrities were asked to style the iconic black jacket their own way which included Sarah Jessica Parker weaving hers into a crown and Virginie Ledoyen teaming hers with a backcombed beehive in a Marie Antoinette style.

Although we may have to wait a few months for the official book to hit our shelves, the images are all beautifully showcased on a website that was set up especially for the project and are available here.
