Retro is back with a vengeance this summer thanks to Prada. We’re going back to the 50s, so think Glamour Hollywood a la Marilyn Monroe with her beautiful size fourteen curves, alongside Sandy and the Pink Ladies from Grease. Pretty prints are a must, as is polka dot patterns and wide brimmed floppy hats. Miu Miu is also a designer to look out for with this trend, especially with their range of handbags and funky sunglasses. Other designers which have run this 50s trend are Richard Chai and DKNY.

For high street inspiration, head to Topshop for their wide range of bralets (which were very popular in the 1950s with matching high-waist shorts). They have floral patterns as well as lace bralets to cover every aspect of 1950s fashion. Zara and Asos are also on form with their range of 1950s style fashion. If in doubt, head to your nearest vintage store to take a look at some of the original pieces.

This summer, grab that floppy hat, those cat-eyed sunglasses you’ve never dared to wear before and head on out in a matching floral two-piece. Wear this trend whilst lounging on a white sandy beach in the South of France or the Maldives; or head over to Hollywood where all the Hollywood glamour began.
