When we put Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. in our 'Ones to Watch' list for this year, I really had no idea of how to accurately describe the sound they created, thankfully 405 writer Matthew Olmos (who tipped us off to the band) managed to find some jumping off points, namely within the electronic genre. While that's true (depending on the song) what really struck me immediately with these guys, band name aside, was their core pop values.

On their Horse Power EP they covered 'God Only Knows' by the Beach Boys, and somehow they managed to pull it off beautifully. So what we have with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is a band that appreciates the value of a good song, which they explain in the interview portion of the video below. Another thing you'll notice with the band is that they happen to appreciate the idea of putting on a good show, which in a way represents all the sonic embellishments you'll find in their beautiful pop songs.

Although they might not be as big here as they are in America, we're finally seeing the scales balance out a bit, and that makes us really happy.
