How many 21 year old indie artists do you know that would mention Diana Ross as one of their favourite singers? Probably not many, but that's what makes Louis Oliver Jones, aka Spectrals, so special. We're not suggesting he's making music similar to 'You Can't Hurry Love', and definitely not 'I'm Coming Out', but it's the simple approach to classic songwriting which has seen him rise through the ranks over the last year or so. "Nothing complicated or particularly mind blowing" is how he puts it.

Next week his debut album Bad Penny is released by Wichita (17 October) and to celebrate we caught up with Jones to record a two track session in a park ('Lockjaw' and 'Big Baby') and a quick chat.

We apologise for the sound quality in the interview. It was a very windy day.
