Publisher Random House is expanding the platforms it publishes and moving into the world of gaming by publishing the Black Crown Project. It's a narrative game, written by Rob Sherman.

From what we've seen so far, players are invited to join the Widsith Institute as clerks, answering an extremely bizarre questionnaire and being presented with a number of scenarios that wouldn't look out of place in a David Lynch short. To quote the press release, as a clerk '[your]work is managed through the application of bespoke diseases, to facilitate the task of categorising and analysing the Institute's archive of diaries and journals, belonging to the world's greatest explorers, those who travel beyond the edge of the world.'

It certainly looks intriguing, from the oddly anachronistic design of the website, to the slow trickle of information that's fed to you as you proceed through the game's story. If you want to check it out for yourself, head over to the Black Crown Project website now - it's free to sign up.
