John Riccitiello has stepped down as CEO of Electronic Arts, as announced by EA’s Larry Probst. Mr. Riccitiello has been responsible for garneringa lot of consumer hatred over the past few years, with EA even being listed as “the worst company in America in 2012”.

Riccitiello will leave his position on the board of directors on March 30th with no replacement yet announced. The reason given for his departure was down to EA’s recent poor financial performance.

With the company's obsession with micro transactions, always-online DRM a la’ Sim City 5, Battlefield’s fierce competition with the Call of Duty series, it's hardly surprising their bottom line is suffering, with such high overheads and very poor returns.
